Bendigo Violet Street Primary Schoool

OUR SCHOOL!!!
Bendigo Violet Street Primary School is situated in Old Violet street 877 in Bendigo. It has about 130 students. The school is close to the centre of the city. It has four playgrounds, an oval, basketball and netball courts and a tiger turf area spread across the yard. It has many activites and out outside things to do. It's a great place to be educated. Our school is both old and new and has a very interesting history. It is because of the German people that we are here today.

A large number of German miners were attracted to the Bendigo goldfields.Today's Bendigo Primary School No. 877 owes its origins to the enthusiasm for education of the early Bendigo German community. The school was built by the German community of the Ironbark area in 1866 and then replaced with the New German School in 1877. The school was remodled in 1913 and our new name was Violet Street State School. We have a wall of honor for all the people who went to war from our school for all the familes to see and remember all those people. The German Society provide a special award each year to one of students to help them with their education.

Staff

Our school has a great staff. Our principal Mr Scobie is enthusiastic and works hard to make the school fun and exciting. We have seven classroom teachers who are all different but great at what they do. We have a talented art and music teacher Mr Rinaldi who puts on a great production each year, runs art shows with our work and leads our school choir. We have our Scotish Librarian Mrs Raz who takes care of our Library and cares for us in sick bay. We also have a business manager Sharon in the office who deals with all the money and helps Mr Scobie. There are also the teacher aids who help out in the classroom, Julie and Wendy are a lot of fun to have around. We think we have a great staff at Violet Street.
